The Benahavis river walk is a popular family activity enjoyed by tourists and residents alike. The Guadalmansa river flows through the Sierra De Las Nieves national park, from Ronda in the north, all the way through the pin forests before passing through the picturesque white village of Benahavis just a few kms from Puerto Banus. This centuries old river has carved a natural gorge out of the red rocks surrounding the village, leaving behind a gently flowing river with short waterfalls, rock pools and passageways before widening out and exiting outside the village and running our to sea.
Starting at a point just inside the village you can negotiate a section of around 1.5km of river enjoying the clear cool water, swimming and jumping into the rock pools to cool off and passing through the high gorges.
Suitable for ages 8 years to around 50 years, we advise you are a capable swimmer and reasonably fit, it requires some wading, swimming and often climbing or negotiating some small inclines and rock sections. Even a small dam (where it is imperative that you bring your own strong rope!). The entire experience takes around 2h – 2.5hr and is a lot of fun. A walk around the Aquacia walking trail nearby or tapas in the village is an excellent way to complete the afternoon in this beautiful Andalucian town.
